Glen Rock Ambulance
Corps Installation Dinner Honors 25 Year Members
January 14th was a
memorable occasion for the Glen Rock Ambulance
Corps. The organization
held its annual installation dinner at Seasons in
Hillsdale. The party also honored Diane and Paul
Herrlett for their 25 years of service.
Installed as officers for 2006 were Mary Surrago,
President, Ron Jemal, 1st Vice President, Liz Carr,
2nd Vice President, Mike Eckert, Treasurer, John
DeLaat, Chief, Pat Gallagher, Recording Secretary
and Diane Herrlett, Corresponding Secretary.
During
the evening, the group honored those members who had
reached milestones in their years as members.
Andrea Satler was accorded Life Membership and
received a plaque and a Life Members pin. To become
a Life Member, one has to be a full riding member
for 10 years. Since the inception of the Corps in
1951, 74 members have achieved Life Member status.
Currrent Chief John DeLaat celebrated 15 years as a
member and received an engraved Cross pen and pencil
set. Pat Gallagher was honored for 20 years of
service with an engraved clock.
Mayor
John VanKeuren and the Borough Council presented
Diane and Paul with a plaque commemorating “50”
years of combined service to the Borough of Glen
Rock. The Council also presented them with a star
named in their honor. Senator John Girgenti
attended and gave them each citations from the State
of New Jersey. They received engraved watches from
the ambulance corps.
The
Installation Dinner is an occasion not only to honor
the new Executive Board and those members reaching
milestones, but also to allow the active members to
reconnect with retired Life Members. This year
retired Life Members attending were Irv Cohen, Barry
Driscoll, Al Miller, Don Levine, Joe Wojtecki, Fritz
Reuter, Neal Borchert and David Sternberg.
It was
an enjoyable evening of dining, dancing, meeting,
and reminiscing.
