Glen Rock Borough Council Celebrates EMS Week
At
the Borough Council meeting on May 14, 2008, the
Mayor and Council honored members of the Glen Rock
Volunteer Ambulance Corps (GRVAC) with a
proclamation in recognition of National EMS Week.
Since 1974, National Emergency Medical Services
Week has been celebrated by the American College of
Emergency Physicians. This year’s theme, “Your Life
is Our Mission,” recognizes the well known fact that
access to quality emergency care dramatically
improves the survival and recovery rate of those who
experience sudden illness or injury.

In
reading the proclamation, Mayor John van Keuren
recognized the commitment of the GRVAC to Borough
residents stating that “it has long been appreciated
and recognized that Ambulance Corps volunteers
devote thousands of hours in specialized training,
continuing education, and responding to emergencies
24/7, 365 days a year in the Borough.”
Councilmember and Chairman of the Public Safety
Committee Mike O’Hagan added his appreciation noting
that “EMS Week is a wonderful way to not only
publicize safety but also to honor the dedication of
our volunteers who literally put their busy lives on
hold to help their neighbor. This year’s theme –
Your Life is Our Mission – is so fitting and says it
all!”
