Noreen Egan Honored

The
Bergen County Chapter of the 200 Club held their
Annual Valor Awards luncheon at the Glenpointe
Marriott in Teaneck on April 26, 2007. The Club was
founded by J.Fletcher Creamer and friends to promote
financial assistance, scholarships and valor
recognitions to law enforcement, fire and emergency
personnel.
Honored at this year’s event
was Noreen Egan, a member of the Glen Rock Volunteer
Ambulance Corps. She received the John R. Rinaldi
Special Recognition Award, which is given to one
emergency services person for their outstanding
contribution to Emergency Services. The Ambulance
Corps nominated Noreen for her outstanding service
their organization.
A graduate of Holy Name
Hospital School of Nursing and Seton Hall
University, Noreen married Tom Egan, who grew up in
Glen Rock. They bought his parents’ home and became
friends with another young couple on the block,
Diane and Paul Herrlett. Through their friendship,
Noreen became interested in the Corps and joined.
Now, 25 years later, Noreen is still a riding member
and will be honored for this prestigious anniversary
at the annual Installation Dinner held in 2008.
She also held the position of Chief and Lieutenant
during her years as a member.
Her son, Dan, also joined the
Ambulance Corps in high school and was the recipient
of one of the 200 Club Merit Scholarships given in
1994. Dan went on to graduate from medical school
and is now an Emergency Room physician at St.
Vincent’s Hospital in NY and at Valley Hospital.
Her other son, Jamie, was a
Ranger in the U.S. Army and completed a tour of Iraq
before he left the service. His father, Tom, served
his country in Viet Nam and is currently the
Commander of the VFW Post 850 in Glen Rock.
Certainly a family that is involved in many aspects
of public service.
In case Noreen does not have
enough to do in her spare time, she is also
Assistant OEM Director and a familiar face at the
Academy of Our Lady. She has been their school
nurse for the past 24 years.
The Ambulance Corps is pleased
that the 200 Club chose Noreen as the recipient of
the John R. Rinaldi Award. We have always known she
was a special person; it is gratifying to know that
people outside the organization recognize that also.
