David Behar Recognized at
Hackensack University Medical Center EMS Excellence
Awards Dinner
David
Behar of the Glen Rock Volunteer Ambulance Corps
(GRVAC) was honored at the annual Hackensack
University Medical Center EMS Excellence Awards
Dinner on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at the Palm Court
at HUMC. Hackensack University Medical Center
recognizes that their job as a trauma center is
dependent on the dedication of First Responders,
which includes EMS, police and fire departments.
Over 50 EMS personnel from Bergen County were
honored at this event.
David, along with his
wife Susan, have been residents of Glen Rock for
over 35 years where they raised three daughters. He
retired from Lucent Technology after 37 years, where
he taught first aid and CPR to the employees. David
is the longest riding active member of the Glen Rock
Ambulance Corps, just completing his 29th
year. In his own words, “I will be 66 years old;
almost half of my life has been with the Glen Rock
Ambulance Corps.”
Since his retirement,
David not only rides one of the night shifts, but he
also volunteers for several day shifts, enabling the
GRVAC to effectively respond to day calls, the
biggest challenge facing many ambulance corps
today. The Glen Rock Ambulance Corps congratulates
David for a job well done!
