An Award Straight From the Heart

Printed in the Glen Rock Gazette on Friday, June 16, 2006

Nothing is more gratifying than to save someone’s life, but when that life belongs to someone you know, the reward is double.   The Glen Rock Ambulance Corps celebrated that saved life at their annual spring party held at Biagio’s Restaurant on June 2, 2006.

Special plaques were given out to members of the Ambulance Corps and the Police Department for a CPR “save” in December of 2005.  Mayor John Van Keuren presented the plaques to the EMS personnel with special words of praise and gratitude since the victim they saved was his wife, Ginny.  He said that the Borough of Glen Rock was fortunate to have such a professional and caring EMS Department, but nowhere is it more evident than when you experience it on a personal level.  Mrs. Van Keuren added her own thanks from the bottom of her “new defibrillator”.   It was truly a night of celebration for the Ambulance Corps.

Shown below are Mayor and Mrs. Van Keuren and the crew who participated in the call:

Front row: L-R: Anna Maria Mattina (GRPD), Liz Carr and John DeLaat (GRVAC), Ginny and John Van Keuren  Back row: L-R: Bob Wojtecki (GRPD) Matt Auslander (GRVAC), Matt Stanislao (GRPD), Mike Eckert (GRVAC) and Jim Calaski (GRPD).  Missing from photo: Pat Gallagher (GRVAC) and Joanne Perry (OEM)
