About Us
Since responding to its first call on September 2, 1951, the members of the Glen Rock Volunteer Ambulance Corps (GRVAC) have been assisting their neighbors in times of need. We provide emergency first aid and transportation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Ranging in age from 16 to 70 years old, our members are school teachers, attorneys, business owners, engineers, nurses, and other professionals, as well as stay-at-home moms and dads. High school students fill out our youth squad.
The members of our all volunteer squad undergo 240 hours of free training prior to becoming certified as a State of New Jersey Emergency Medical Technician. Shorter training programs are available for medical professionals, such as nurses and physicians assistants. Continuous training opportunities and in-the-field experience enables us to respond to all types of emergencies.
Last year, our members responded to approximately 600 emergencies in two state-of-the-art ambulances, a first responder vehicle and an emergency response trailer. We also "stand-by" at many community functions, such as football games, parades and town fairs.
Though Glen Rock may have changed over the last 60 years, the mission of the GRVAC has remained the same – “Neighbor Helping Neighbor.”
