Diane Herrlett Announces Retirement From GRVAC
The Glen Rock Volunteer Ambulance Corps would like you to know that we are celebrating the end of an era at the end of June. Our President, and long-time member, Diane Herrlett has announced her retirement from the GRVAC. After 45 years of service, Diane has decided to turn in her radio pager and pack away her stethoscope, and gauze bandages. Our June 19th business meeting was celebrated as Diane’s last as President and active member. However, Diane has pledged to acclimate our new president with the duties of the office and to remain on committees. As seen below, GRVAC incoming President, Gregg Vincinanza is presenting a proclamation from the President of the EMS Council of New Jersey for her forty-five years of emergency medical services.
The GRVAC is built on a strong foundation of professionalism, dedication, and love. Diane is one of the strongest blocks in that foundation. Diane is not like a glowing sign that broadcasts her every deed, but looking around our building, comradery, administration, and our events you can see and feel her involvement.
Diane’s beloved husband, Paul, was also a Life Member of the GRVAC. When Paul and Diane got married, they purchased Diane’s parents' house in Glen Rock. Paul joined the GRVAC as a way of meeting people. They socialized with other GRVAC couples and became a close-knit group. As time went on, the wives also became members and formed a strong bond and support system through good and bad times. As a couple, they created uncountable stories, beyond providing emergency medical services. These stories are held in the photographs, memories and hearts of our members throughout the decades. These stories come from squad picnics, building renovations, meetings, trainings, installation dinners, fund drives, social events and so many other events that make the GRVAC one of the best in the State. Paul passed away in 2010 and Diane has continued to serve as cornerstone for the GRVAC. At this point in her life, the GRVAC is a part of her family.
Most of the time this paragraph would read something like “We are going to miss Diane, for all she has done for the Town, and the GRVAC”. However, and thankfully, as a Life Member of the GRVAC, Diane will continue as a strong contributor to the professionalism of the GRVAC so we can provide the best care to our residents and their visitors.
