The GRVAC Celebrates Christine Kochaniec's 25 Years of Service
May 7, 2022
The Glen Rock Volunteer Ambulance Corps Proudly Celebrated Christine Kochaniec's 25 Years of Service.
Family, friends, and colleagues gathered at Macalusso's Restaurant, in Hawthorne, NJ, to speak or listen to Christines history at the GRVAC. Most notable speaker, was her sister, Rosemarie Jones, a Life Member of the GRVAC. Rosemarie is also Chris's identical twin sister. So as Ro said, she knows Christine longer than anyone else. Her speech was filled with love and was moving to say the least. That love for Christine is a feeling that is shared by all of the GRVAC members.
Christine's sisters and mom, joined the GRVAC in memory of their brother and son. Joining the GRVAC for them was logical since they were or wanted to be health care professionals. Christine was a cosmetology professional at the time. However, she felt left out because they were riding in memory of their brother. So in 1993, a year after her family joined, Christine joined them as a member of the GRVAC.
Over the years, Christine has extended herself to all who know her. Christine will always go out of her way to help solve a problem, be it for the GRVAC, or a member. GRVAC members know Christine as a great EMT. Her skills are at the top of the game. Christine has shared these skills and bedside manner with all of the GRVAC. Chris, continues to ride with the squad, keeping Glen Rock's heart beating.
Christine has served the squad in many different capacities. She has held positions including EMT, Lieutenant, Chief, Treasurer, and many committee assignments. Christine has continued her EMS training and growth and is now an EMT instructor at Bergen Country Training Center.
Christine still rides using the years of life-saving skills she has amassed. In her words "It's a wonderful feeling to save a life or help someone in their time of need".
