To The Residents of Glen Rock, New Jersey,
This year EMS Week is being celebrated from May 15-21, 2022. Our New Jersey EMS Volunteers normally answer hundreds of thousands of emergency calls annually, maintaining training and certifications, recruiting (and retaining) members, raising funds, participating in numerous community activities, and providing stand-by service during public events. This is in addition to spending time with their families, working and attending school. And, this does not include what possibly was, and continues to be, the greatest challenge to our volunteers in the last 2 plus years when dealing with COVID-19. New Jersey was one of the first, and hardest hit areas of the United States when COVID-19 took hold and spread throughout the State and our communities, and I am pleased to say that the volunteers in Glen Rock rose to this challenge. The members of the Glen Rock Volunteer Ambulance Corps continued to respond to calls and care for their residents and any visitors to Glen Rock when their services were needed, sometimes at risk to themselves since no one was sure how COVID- 19 spread when the Pandemic began. There is no way these volunteers can be properly compensated. It would cost millions of dollars to attempt to repay your volunteers for all of their time and the services they dedicate to your community each year. But during EMS Week you can show your support to the members of the Glen Rock Volunteer Ambulance Corps by thanking them for their dedication to your families and services they provide. The greatest level of thanks could come from joining them as a member so their duties and burden can be shared by more members. Hailed as heroes during the height of COVID-19, the members of the Glen Rock Volunteer Ambulance Corps continue to shine, providing their services as trained EMS responders during times of crisis. They have never been more essential. I know a few members of the squad personally, and as President of the EMS Council of New Jersey, I am proud of them. Thank you to all of the members of the Glen Rock Volunteer Ambulance Corps, their families, and to all volunteers throughout New Jersey. Paula Weiler President, EMS Council of New Jersey |
